In the heart of Melbourne, Generation Australia recently hosted its annual event, “GAlvanise,” where team members from all corners of the country came together for two days of immersive workshops, strategic discussions, and team-building activities. It’s not often a 100% remote crew gets to trade Slack messages for face-to-face interactions.

The event focused on four key themes: Reflect, Align, Connect and Collaborate, providing a unique opportunity for the remote work-based company to strengthen its bonds and reinforce its shared values.

Day 1: Connecting and Aligning

The first day of GAlvanise set the tone for the entire event with engaging team activities that encouraged employees to connect on a personal level. These activities served as icebreakers, fostering a sense of camaraderie among team members who often collaborate virtually. As the day unfolded, the focus shifted to a values session, where participants delved into both personal and organisational values. This created a powerful connection between individual beliefs and the overarching principles of Generation Australia.

Simultaneously, strategy sessions were held to align personal and organisational goals, emphasising the importance of aligning individual aspirations with the company’s mission. By intertwining personal and professional objectives, Generation Australia aimed to create a unified front for the challenges ahead.

Day 2: Collaboration and Reflection

The second day featured an enlightening workshop facilitated by Yury and Alejandra, Business Agility Specialists from Accenture. They shared their wisdom on Agile project management, having the growth mindset and unlocking the secrets of Asana, our collaborative tool. Their insights were like rocket fuel, propelling us towards smoother workflows and seamless cross-functional teamwork. We returned to our team sessions, armed with new skills and a potent dose of inspiration, ready to refine our strategies and tackle even the most formidable challenges.

As GAlvanise 2024 drew to a close, the Generation A

ustralia team bid farewell with a renewed sense of purpose and connection. The event proved to be an invaluable opportunity for team members to bridge the physical gaps that remote work can create. By emphasising connection, alignment, collaboration, and reflection, Generation Australia successfully navigated the challenges of remote work and emerged stronger as a united team.
