This pre-employment program is designed to prepare, support, and guide you into a rewarding career in Disability Support.

Disability Support Worker Foundations Program

This comprehensive 4-week program will introduce you to the disability sector and equip you with the essential technical and personal care skills needed for a support worker role. You’ll also develop key soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and empathy—everything you need to feel confident stepping into the workforce. This program will be delivered online.

Employment Pathways to Disability Support Roles

After completing the Disability Support Worker Foundations Program, you’ll have the opportunities to connect with employers and learn more about what they look for in candidates. We’re here to support you with job applications, industry insights, and building the skills you need to take the next step. From resume help to interview practice and confidence building, we’ll be with you every step of the way as you explore opportunities in disability support.

What roles are available?

Upon completing the Disability Support Worker Foundations Program, you’ll have the foundational knowledge and skills to step into entry-level roles in the disability support sector. The program prepares you for real-world work and helps you build connections with employers.

Roles you can apply for include:

  • Disability Support Worker (Entry Level) – Assist individuals with daily activities, community participation, and personal care under supervision.
  • Community Support Worker – Provide companionship and help people with disability engage in social and recreational activities.
  • Lifestyle Assistant – Support individuals in pursuing hobbies, sports, and independent living skills.

Many graduates use this program as a stepping stone to gain experience before pursuing further qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), which can open up additional career pathways

  • Inclusive and holistic support
  • Support into pathways to paid Disability Support Work roles
  • Access to mentorship support
  • Support for students without access to a computer is available in special cases

Requirements

  • Is available for the duration of the training starting on the 29th of April 2025 (4 weeks, Mon-Fri, 10am to 2.30pm, online)
  • Is looking forward to starting a role in Disability Support Work as soon as possible
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Is not currently in education, training, or full-time employment
  • Is likely to get a clear Police Check (National + International), NDIS Check and Working with Children Check
  • Has or is willing to get a COVID19 Vaccine (at least 2 doses) + Flu vaccine
  • Has a valid driver’s licence (at least P1). Access to a reliable and insured vehicle is desirable
  • Has good written and verbal English language skills
  • Has basic tech skills to complete an online program
  • Is passionate about supporting and empowering people living with disabilities

Once you are accepted, you fill out an enrolment form to accept the offer to join our program. 

ORIENTATION (ONLINE)

2 days

The first two days of the course are Orientation days. During these days, you will get to meet your instructors, program coordinator, and fellow classmates. We will go through everything you need to know to start the program together.
