Eva’s Journey with her Career in Tech

Sometimes life calls for a bold step toward the future we truly aspire. For Eva Hopewell, quitting her job was one of those moments. Having worked in technology teams across the finance and consulting industries since graduating with a Bachelor of IT in 2019, she knew it was time to pivot toward a role where she felt more aligned. She set her sights on transitioning from project management roles to a data-driven analysts role where she could fully leverage her skills and expertise.

Setting herself up for success also meant making intentional changes. During this transition, Eva moved from Sydney to Brisbane to be closer to family. The relocation brought its own set of challenges, as she had to balance her personal life, adapt to a new city, and commit to rigorous coursework simultaneously.

“I wanted to move from a series of project manager roles to a data-driven analyst role, which Generation Australia helped me to achieve. The biggest thing the program granted me was time to continue my job hunt so I could find a team that was a good fit, rather than accepting the first offer I received.”

Eva enrolled in Generation Australia’s 13-week Data Analytics course, gaining the structure and support she needed to refine her technical skills and continue her job search. The program not only strengthened her capabilities but also gave her the time and confidence to find a team that was the right fit—rather than settling for the first opportunity that came her way.

Her hard work paid off. Today, Eva is a Senior Analyst at Accenture—a role that reflects not only her dedication but also the value of accessible programs like Generation Australia in opening doors for people ready to step into new opportunities. With the right mindset and support, bold decisions can lead to something greater.
